SFTS Auxiliary

For over 70 years, the SFTS Auxiliary has been a partner in seminary education by providing communal, personal, and financial support for SFTS students and their families and contributing to student support through membership dues.

There are several annual events hosted by the Auxiliary, including the annual Horizons Bible Study in the fall and the Seminary for a Day event in the spring. In December, the Auxiliary hosts the annual Advent Celebration for the students' children and distributes gifts provided by their members in local churches and Presbyterian Women's groups. These events help anchor the primary commitment of the Auxiliary: to continually discover new ways in which members can personally, spiritually, communally and financially be of aid to the students and families of SFTS.

The Auxiliary also oversees the operations of the campus Seek and Find and ensures donations so it remains filled with any gently used clothing. Regretfully, we are unable to accept used computer/electronic equipment.

If you would like to join the SFTS Auxiliary, attend an Auxiliary event or if you would like more information please contact Sarah Campbell, Auxiliary Liaison at SFTS at (800) 477-8820 ext 830 or send an e-mail message to scampbell@sfts.edu.

“Three Wise Men” Theme of Annual Advent Party

On Saturday, December 13, the Auxiliary hosted its annual Advent party for the children of the Seminary. This year’s theme was “The Three Wise Men.” All families received Wise Men invitations printed in English and Korean.

About 40 children and 30 parents were greeted in Scott Hall with Christmas music and decorations. Three craft tables were provided for the children who were assisted by Taylor Crouch, Natalie Taylor and Gracie Francisco.

The Three Wise Men aka Tom Alexander, Ted Crouch, and Brad Van Sant arrived dressed in regal attire and carrying their special gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. As the Wise Men began their journey from the third floor balcony of Scott Hall, they told the story of their travels following the bright star in the east. They descended to the second floor, continuing to tell their story. The children were fascinated! Sarah Jung translated the story into Korean while pictures from the Three Wise Men book were projected on a screen.

Lunch consisting of a selection of sandwiches, carrots, chips, juice and Christmas cookies was served. When the party was over, each child was given a gift bag containing a Target gift card and a lovely book “The Gifts of the Magi” which included a small pouch of Frankincense and Myrrh and a container of “Gold.” The children were delighted with the bag of gifts and the crafts they made, as well as the delicious food.

Thanks to creative and hardworking co-chairs Suzanne Crouch and Cathy White as well as to Auxiliary members who came ahead of time to decorate the Student Lounge, where the party was held, and also those who came and assisted on the day of the Party. We are looking forward to next year’s Advent Party!
