San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) Alumnus Neal Presa, moderator of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., participated in a variety of events on the SFTS campus on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12.

Presa earned a Master of Divinity from SFTS in 2002, and went on to earn a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Master and PhD in Liturgical Theology from Drew University. He serves in a variety of roles in the Presbyterian community including: pastor of the Middlesex (N.J.) Presbyterian Church, adjunct faculty member of the Somerset Christian College, and as an affiliated assistant professor at New Brunswick Theological Seminary.

Presa says he “brings a pastor’s listening heart and a non-anxious presence” to his new role as moderator of the PC(USA), and in his missionary call to the Presbyterian church, says “at the very center and circumference is to be gathered and sent where God is at work, in the church and in the world, meeting people eye-to-eye and face-to-face and to see Jesus Christ alive in them.”

The SFTS community is proud that Presa is the 16th SFTS community member elected to hold this position. Most recently, SFTS alumnus Reverend Bruce Reyes-Chow (M.Div. ’95) served as moderator of the PC(USA) from 2008-2010.
