Ministry Opportunity Description

     
Westminster Presbyterian Church is a welcoming and progressive congregation in Tiburon, California. We are seeking an Interim Director of Youth Ministry to be an educator, spiritual guide, program coordinator, and advocate for the middle and high school youth in the Westminster community.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and organize Sunday morning classes, assisting with lesson planning, recruiting volunteer teachers, teaching when necessary
• Plan program content for regular gatherings outside of Sunday mornings, including local service projects, relationship building opportunities, and fellowship activities
• Recruit, train, and coordinate adult volunteers
• Plan, organize, and supervise youth mission trips
• Manage administrative aspects of the youth program, including budget and publicity
• Keep in contact with both youth and parents using a variety of methods, which may include e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, monthly newsletters, and face to face meetings
• Encourage youth participation in interfaith activities
• Participate in weekly staff meetings, monthly Christian Education Commission meetings, and quarterly interfaith youth leader meetings

Skills and characteristics sought include:

• Have experience and passion for working with teens, and a commitment to walking with them on their faith journeys
• A strong personal faith and practice that is authentically expressed
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to be a team player and to work collegially with others
• Self-directed person who manages own work schedule well
• Successful completion of a background check

This is a part-time (20 hr/week) position.
*Special Note – Candidates with background in social media and web design may be eligible for a full-time combined position.
