|
Major Responsibilities: The Associate Pastor will be responsible to the Sr. Pastor/Head of Staff and ultimately to the Congregation. The Associate Pastor will join FPCD at an exciting time in its 136 year history. With the calling of Rev. Dr. Suzan Hawkinson in August 2011, a new chapter has begun. This position provides an excellent opportunity to assist in the implementation of the new staff organization. Primary responsibilities are: Care Delivery • Develop and oversee care delivery teams to provide hospital and home visitation. • Train and support the Board of Deacons, Stephen Ministers, and other congregational caregivers. • Develop and coordinate programs including support groups to address issues such as aging, divorce, and job loss.
Membership Engagement • Develop an information base of member’s gifts and give leadership to a staging ministry that helps members discover, grow and share their God given gifts. • Provide staff leadership and training for the Nominations Committee. Work with other staff and Session to engage members in worship, education, mission, and fellowship.
Outreach and Fellowship • Develop and support ministries that offer invitation and welcome to nonmembers. • Utilize technology, personal contact, visual display and other methods to direct and deepen ministry of invitation and welcome. • Provide staff leadership to the Care and Fellowship and Outreach Councils.
Other Duties • Preach regularly during the year and officiate at weddings, funerals and other services as requested.
