San Francisco Theological Seminary Partners with Disciples Seminary Foundation
San Anselmo, CA – Earlier this month, San Francisco Theological Seminary entered into an official partnership with the Disciples Seminary Foundation (DSF) that will provide increased educational access to DSF students. Through this relationship, both institutions will strengthen their joint missions of preparing students for service both within and outside of the church in ecumenical settings.
SFTS is the fourth school to enter into such a partnership with DSF, joining Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California (DSF partner school since 1960); Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California (partner since 1987); and Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry in Seattle, Washington (partner since 2011).
Of this new agreement, SFTS President Rev. Dr. James McDonald says, “This valuable partnership and growing relationship between SFTS and DSF strengthens our common efforts in preparing leaders for service both in and outside the church in a constantly changing world.” McDonald continues, “We look forward to working in close partnership with DSF for the foreseeable future.”
President of the DSF, Rev. Dr. Jon L. Berquist says, "SFTS and DSF have shared a rich history of cooperation…Disciples ministers have been studying at SFTS for decades. Some of our strongest pastors and leaders have attended SFTS programs, and DSF has been very proud of these graduates.”
SFTS looks forward to welcoming a new class of Disciples students this coming fall.
